| An quick update, since it has been three months since my last. I have graduated, taken the NCLEX and received my RN license, been working at Lighthouse Christian Camp, on a missions trip to Haiti, and helping out with Super Summer at our church. In the off time I have been playing with my family and friends, spending some time at the lake, and looking for a job. I'm very much interested in two ERs right now. I have applied to both and had an interview at one. I interview for the other one Monday at 1400. So...that's a 30 second update for you fast readers, a bit longer for you slow ones. I hope you all are doing well! God bless, Cara | | |
| As I near the end of my college days I look back and wonder...what do I want to be known for? The student who makes excellent grades? The girl who makes everybody laugh? The person who has it all together? The ever-smiling one? No. This is releasing. It releases me to be human, to have feelings other than happiness, and to get a bad grade without judging myself as a failure. It releases me to focus on the thing I desire for them to remember the most: my Saviour. If the people at school happen to think of Cara, I don't want them to picture me, but instead be drawn to God. The only way that happens is by the blessing of God. Bless me, Lord, and be blessed - make Your glory known! This is my prayer. | | |
| May I just shout that to the world? I. LOVE. NURSING! I am so glad to be doing something that I love, something that I never get bored with, something where I can give God the glory, something where I get to minister to people every day. Ah, Lord God, let me be a light for You! People, I am so excited to become a 'real nurse.' I really hope God allows me to be. 4 more exams, 4 more quizzes, and 1 NCLEX (boards) to go. Amazing. I am not going to be able to do it without the help of God. My Lord has been faithful to sustain me thus far and continues to bless me. His faithfulness is without limit. And even if I died tomorrow, or got horribly mangled and paralyzed in a car accident, it has been worth it because of the lives I have been able to touch, those who have touched me, and the very nature of God which has been revealed so preciously to me throughout school. It would take me hours - days - to tell you everything that God has done for me in the past few years at school. I am so blessed.

| So I picked up an extra shift in the ER today basically to get more IV practice, such as putting them in on the first try without causing a lot of pain (not giving meds through them - that's the easy part!), and it was absolutely amazing. I feel kinda bad practicing on people, but there's really no other way to learn! And I graduate (Lord willing) in what - 10 weeks?! AHH - CRAZINESS! Are they really calling me an RN and letting me loose on society? Today I learned what alcohol smells like (one of my patients was over 3x the legal amount and quite belligerent, but he calmed down after I was nice to him and the policeman threatened to crack his arm). Then there was an ADORABLE little girl who accidently got burned on her mom's curling iron - so so cute (the girl, not the burn). And a man with a laceration due to a chainsaw accident. Boys, please be careful with those chainsaws, the ER sees so many injuries from them. Anyway, it was a very eventful day with many lessons learned. But I am going to go spend time with my family instead of write them all down here because I have been sadly neglecting them for the textbook these last two weeks. Love to all! Cara :) | | |
